Pros and Cons: Sunscreen

As April comes to a close, the season of spring begins to wane and the arrival of summer beckons. Along with the new season marks the start of California’s famous summer sun. Although the sun means beaches, swimming, and enjoyable summer activities, it also means it’s a time to put on sunscreen. Sunscreen, also known as sun block, sun lotion, and sun cream, is a type of cream, lotion, or spray that protects the skin by absorbing or reflecting the harmful Ultra Violet (UV) rays from the sun, which prevents sunburn. Yet like any other product, there are different brands so here’s a friendly guide to explain the pros and cons of the most popular ones.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55

- Good choice for sport players
- Lightweight and non-greasy
- Sweat resistant
- Broad spectrum protection
Cons:
- Unpleasant chemical odor

No-Ad Sunblock Lotion SPF 45
Pros:
- Cheap and inexpensive
- Broad-spectrum protection
- Water-resistant
- Has anti-oxidants
Cons:
- Contains fragrance that may not suitable to all people
- Difficult to locate in stores

These are just some of the more popular brands of sunscreen. Check out a local store and buy one of these great types of sunscreen because you’ll soon need it.
