PostSubject: Senior Pranks   Thu May 12, 2011 12:30 am

*I plan on adding one more paragraph soon.

After trekking through four years of high school, the seniors have made it to the end. As always, there are always some seniors who secretly pull an annual “senior prank”. With such a big school as AHS, there are endless ways of pulling pranks, but unfortunately, these “jokes” end up costing administration money to fix and clean up after these messes. Though some are very simple, here are some of the infamous pranks through the years.
This year, the main senior prank was taking all the red tables and some of the trash cans and stacking them in a pyramid-like fashion on the rally court. This occurred over one of the three-day weekends, but the tables and trash cans were put back soon after they were discovered before the next day of school. This prank was work to clean up, but luckily it was not a very costly thing to do as opposed to some of the others. Another more minor, yet more exciting “prank” to most, was an email sent to the seniors in the class of 2011. The email was a personalized Hogwarts acceptance letter sent in late April. Based off the famous Harry Potter series, this email was well-received by the Harry Potter fans and definitely not costly at all.
In past years, however, there were memorable senior pranks that did caused a lot more damage. Most of these expensive repairs are for the pool, because the pool had to be drained and then refilled. Some common pranks included dying the pool, throwing a mattress into the pool, and of course the infamous throwing of the dean’s cart in the pool. Last year and years before, another prank damaging school property was gluing pennies onto the floor and also doing something to the softball field grass by J-Building to mark seniors and their graduating year. These situations may seem funny and fun for the seniors who set these pranks, but the pranks always end up costing the administration a lot of money.
Senior pranks are exciting to see every year, especially for the underclassmen who have never seen one before. But just as a precaution to all you future senior prankers, just be aware of the costs and damage caused by some of the more elaborate pranks; they don’t always end up as funny as imagined for the school to clean up and especially with the budget cut lately, it doesn’t go over so well for the administration to have to spend money cleaning up.

In contrast to these smaller-scale senior pranks, some have gone all out with elaborate pranks. Present day, there is a big “A” facing the swimming pool on the North Gym.; a similar “A” used to be on the South Gym but was stolen for a senior prank. Rumor has it that the students who stole this “A” hide it in someone’s swimming pool and no one found out until three weeks into summer school. Instead of reattaching the “A” to South Gym, a new one was created to hang on the North Gym. However, one of the most expensive and biggest pranks was when some people dug a giant hole in the end zone of the football field and buried a Volkswagen in the hole. These pranks were very impressive, despite the consequences.
