PostSubject: GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER!!!! HIPPO HIPPOS DONKEY GIRAFFE   Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:23 pm

As winter has comes to an end, so must the season of almost every high school Girls Varsity Soccer team. However, the end is only the beginning for our Girls Varsity Soccer team.

Although the season began with a rough start, the girls have improved tremendously, as they have developed “better chemistry” and have “come together as a team,” according to junior Hayley Greep. It is through this way that the girls epitomizes the word “team”. The soccer team has gone through numerous injuries and losses. But despite these setbacks, the team still emerged victorious.

It all began with the unfortunate loss of 0-1 against Crescent Valley High School (CVHS) on Jan. 18. The end of the season was already creeping upon them, so the girls knew they had to step up to the ball; and so they did. One after another, our girls defeated Glendale High School with a 5-1 on Jan. 21; demolished Herbert Hoover High School (HHHS) with a score 6-0 on Jan. 24, and destroyed HHHS again with a devastating 9-0 only two days later. However, the girls had been coming up short of winning ever since. But the tide changed on Feb. 8 when Girls Soccer played John Muir High School, and annihilated them with a 12-0 end score. This win meant that despite the previous losses and ties, the girls had only needed to win one more game in order to fulfill their goal of making CIF.

And they did.

On Feb. 10, Girls Soccer played the last game of their league season against CVHS, and won with a 3-0. Sophomore Shelby Dreves felt that “as soon as the kickoff started, [she] immediately knew that [they] were going to win, because the intensity was really good, [they] were playing [their] game, and the energy was high, which caused [them] to win.” When ask to describe how she felt about winning, she simply said “it was amazing”.

In regards of CIF, Coach Paul Miles expects [the girls] to do well. [They’re] going to be going up against other first seed teams though, which will make it a tough draw.” Coach Mike then goes on to comment that the chemistry of the team is improving. They’re “battled injuries all season long, but everybody is back and healthy and playing their role. Everyone is playing their best.”

With that, Girls Varsity Soccer have once again become CIF legible, thus ending their league season with an outstanding record of 11-5-6. But it’s not over yet. Our girls will soon be representing the Apache pride as they move forward to CIF. May we wish the best of luck to the girls.

As winter has comes to an end<has come to a close>, so must the season of almost every high school<’s> Girls Varsity Soccer team. However, the end is only the beginning for our Girls Varsity Soccer team <redundant, change to: our girl’s?>.

Although the season began with a rough start, the girls have improved tremendously, as they <according to junior Hayley Greep> have developed “better chemistry” and have “come together as a team,” according to junior Hayley Greep<delete for stylistic purposes?>. It is through this way that the girls epitomizes the word “team”<Through these qualities, the girls epitomize the word “team” but may be kind of redundant because you mentioned “together as a team”>. The soccer team has gone through numerous injuries and losses. But despite these setbacks, the team <has> still emerged victorious.

It all began with the unfortunate loss of 0-1 against Crescent Valley High School (CVHS) <check with editors on abbreviations! Based on experience, ‘HS’ is not always necessary. Check with Hoover too!>on Jan. 18. The end of the season was already creeping upon them<the idea of the season ending constantly lingered>, so the girls knew they had to step up to the ball; <change to dash>and so they did. One after another, our girls <Our girls demolished rivaling teams one after another as they> defeated Glendale High School with a 5-1 on Jan. 21; demolished Herbert Hoover High School (HHHS) with a score 6-0 on Jan. 24, and destroyed HHHS again with a devastating 9-0 only two days later. However, the girls had been coming up short of winning ever since <come up short of winning what?>. But the tide changed on Feb. 8 when Girls Soccer played John Muir High School, and annihilated them with a 12-0 end score. This win meant that despite the previous losses and ties, the girls had only needed to win one more game in order to fulfill their goal of making CIF <qualifying for CIF>.

And they did. <love the insinuated dramatic pause.>

On Feb. 10, Girls Soccer played the last game of their league season against CVHS, and won with a 3-0 <delete ‘a’ or add some kind of noun!>. <consider cutting “which caused them to win”, sounds just a tad repetitive>

In regards of <delete ‘of’ replace with ‘to’> CIF, Coach Paul Miles expects [the girls] to do well. [They’re] going to be going up against other first seed teams though, which will make it a tough draw.” <beginning quotes> Coach Mike then goes <replace ‘goes’ with ‘went’> on to comment that the chemistry of the team is improving. <If the previous sentence does not contain a quote, consider rewording to: “Coach Mike elaborated, commenting on the improvement of the team’s chemistry> They’re <replace with ‘They’ve> “battled injuries all season long, but everybody is back and healthy and playing their role. Everyone is playing their best.”

With that, Girls Varsity Soccer have once again become CIF legible <I think you mean ‘eligible’>, thus ending their league season with an outstanding record of 11-5-6. But it’s not over yet. Our girls will soon be representing the Apache pride <delete pride and and plural “Apache”> as they move forward to CIF. May we wish the best of luck to the girls. <sounds kind of ominous. BE PEPPY! Smile maybe change to: Best of luck to our Girls Varsity Soccer team!>
